Hanukah Happenings at B’nai Jehudah We are thrilled to be able to celebrate Hanukah together as a congregation again, through these multi-access events and opportunities:

Latkes Order Pickup | November 28 | Noon – 1pm 
Enjoy Hanukah latkes and fun Hanukah craft kits – brought to you by B’nai Jehudah Sisterhood – for the first night of Hanukah (or any night after!). Orders are due by Nov. 24, for pick up either:  

  • Nov. 28: pick up flash frozen latkes between noon-1 pm at B’nai Jehudah, OR 
  • Dec. 3: Order flash frozen (for later) or warm latkes (to eat right then) for pick up during 180 Menorahs at 6 pm 
Holiday Gift Drive
Bring joy to University Academy Families by adopting a family and providing holiday presents for each family member. This is the perfect mitzvah project for any group of families!
 
Need: Wrapped presents for each family member based on their wish lists
Amount: $100 to $300
Deadline: Deliver to the Temple by Thursday, December 9.

180 Menorahs | December 3 | 6:00 pm 
Wear your wackiest Hanukah sweater, bring your menorahs from home, and help us light up the night! We’ll supply the candles! Get ready for the fun with:

  • Wacky Hanukah sweater contest
  • Sisterhood’s Candle Guessing Contest
  • Brotherhood’s Creative Menorah contest (bring your homemade menorah to enter!)
  • And an official menorah count after the lighting ceremony!
After the service, we’ll spread out around the building and outdoors to enjoy free donuts and hot chocolate on hand, PLUS latkes for those who pre-purchased them from Sisterhood (we will not have extras on hand for sale that evening).
 
Registration is Required: To ensure enough seats, donuts and hot chocolate are available that evening, registration is required by noon on Dec. 2.

Celebrate Hanukah outdoors at the Overland Park Arboretum! The evening includes: 

  • 5:00 pm: Meet at the Arboretum’s Pavilion for schmoozing, a brief Havdalah service and a Hanukiah lighting  
  • 5:30 pm: Walk through the luminaries and enjoy the lights, songs, and more with your B’nai Jehudah community.  

This is a great event for young families! The walking path is wheelchair accessible and is stroller-friendly.   

Hanukah Homecoming
December 5 | during Yalla! | B’nai Jehudah
All B’nai Jehudah members are invited to join Brotherhood for a special morning Hanukkah celebration! We will enjoy a Hanukkah-themed Brotherhood Breakfast Cafe menu, some great activities, including community service, and more. This will be one morning that is not to be missed!
Hanukah Hop

Sisterhood invites young families for a fun, family friendly, virtual Hanukkah Hop! We’ll read Hanukkah Hop, let families show off their favorite Menorah, light the candles and say the blessing together, have a Hanukkah scavenger hunt and, of course… DANCE to some awesome Hanukkah songs!
