Kesher is the religious school program for our students in grades 7-9. Kesher is a Hebrew word that means “link.” Students in grades 7-9 have Kesher as the link between two major milestones in their Jewish education, B’nai Mitzvah and Confirmation. In general, students at this age struggle to figure out how to navigate many “in between” experiences which can lead to feelings of being lost, alone and conflicted. Kesher is designed to help our students manage this “in between” by creating links/connections to each other, to Judaism, to the world around them, and from one phase of life to the next (from being a young B’nai Mitzvah to a mature Confirmand.)

Each year the Kesher curriculum provides age-appropriate learning and social opportunities for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. Kesher students:

  • Gain a better understanding of issues in ways that challenge their thinking and broaden their perspective.
  • Explore topics in age-appropriate groups.
  • Take part in interesting discussions and activities to engage their minds.
  • Discover a new way to look at issues from a Jewish perspective.
  • Participate in field trips that bring what they are learning to life.
