Our Values and Philosophy

Chaim - The preservation and enhancement of human life; Life is valuable and is not to be sacrificed.

Tzedakah - The establishment of justice in all human interaction; Human beings are to be treated as ends and not as means.

Shalom - The promotion of harmony in all things; Human beings live in one world where all affect each other.

Gemilut Chasadim - The performance of special acts of loving kindness; The giving of ourselves to each other without the expectation of reward.

Yisrael - The preservation of the Jewish people; The mission of perpetuating the sacredness of human beings.

Torah - The preservation of the Jewish religious and cultural heritage; The special Jewish search for ethical and spiritual meaning.

Avodah - The statement of the specialness of life through Jewish modes of worship; The use of ritual to express Kedushah, the holiness of life.




Our Congregational Commitments

  1. To maintain the highest ethical values of Judaism in all efforts of the Congregation.
  2. To encourage members and others to develop the spiritual dimension of their characters including their individual and personal prayer lives.
  3. To continually develop rich and diverse programs and classes in Judaism and related subjects that meet the needs of members from the earliest ages to the summit of years.
  4. To provide opportunities for members to experience a sense of Kedushah (holiness) in their lives.
  5. To promote the celebration of life cycle events with integrity and creativity.
  6. To provide the highest level of pastoral concern by staff for members and by members for each other.
  7. To involve members in Tikkun Olam (healing of the world) which include individual acts of conscience, programs and projects for K'lal Yisrael (the Jewish Community) and service for the stranger and the dispossessed and for the community at large.
  8. To seek appropriate funding to enable the implementation of this commitment, to maintain a sound financial base and operate within the limits of available funding.
